BIOGRAPHY |
Meredith Salenger was born on March 14th, 1970. She was raised in Malibu, California, USA. It was at the very young age of eight that Meredith showed an interest in acting. Her first professional acting role was in the John Huston film "Annie" as a 'singing & dancing orphan. The first major starring role came in 1985 in the Disney motion picture "The Journey Of Natty Gann". Her strong portrayal of a young tomboyish girl searching for her father in the 1930's garnered Meredith a 'Best Actress in a Drama' at the Young Artist Awards in 1986. The film also became the first American motion picture to win the gold award at the Moscow Film Festival. Impressed by Meredith's incredible acting ability, Walt Disney Studios signed Meredith to a 2 year contract - something which had not been done since Hollywood's early days at MGM. By the time Meredith was 18 years old she had already starred in four more films including "Dream A Little Dream" and "A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon", a film which co-starred the late River Phoenix and garnered another best acting nomination at the Young Artist Awards in 1989. From 1988 to 1992 Meredith attended Harvard University where she graduated cum laude with a degree in Psychology. Meredith returned to Hollywood and resumed her acting career appearing in several independent films and television shows. A list of all her acting performances are featured on this website. In 2005 Meredith also recorded a song called "Flow Through Me" (several mixes are available on itunes for download plus cover artwork is also available on this site). Meredith truly is both beautiful & talented. Here's looking forward to many more years of her wonderful presence in film and television. |
